Step-by-Step Guide to Publishing Your Podcast.

It's time to turn your audio into an actual podcast and show the world what you have to say. Here's a step-by-step guide to publishing your podcast using Indeecast for free.

Step 1: Write Your Podcast Description

Come up with a title for your show. Keep the title short (between 1 and 5 words).

Write a quick 1-2 sentence description that will entice listeners.

Don't overthink it. You can continually improve the text later.

Example:

  • Title: Pets and Moms.

  • Description: Mothers on the go talk about their dogs, cats, and other pets.

Step 2: Prepare Your Audio Files

Off the bat, if you don’t know anything about editing audio, don’t worry about it now. Whatever you recorded is good to go as a pilot episode (just be careful not to have a long silence at the beginning).

Adding an intro (and outro) music jingle can help your podcast stand out (although optional).

Export each episode as an MP3 file.

Audio Quality

When you export, select the option for a 'constant bitrate' (not ‘variable bitrate’) and set it to 128 kbps.

These audio quality settings are enough for spoken word audio.

Step 3: Create Show Artwork

Сover image is required for your podcast. Don't worry if you don't have designer skills. You can plaster your podcast title and your host's name(s) over a color background.

Image Resolution

Ensure your artwork is square and saved as a JPEG or PNG file at a minimum size of 1400 x 1400 pixels. If you are not sure about the pixels, try making it big.

Step 6: Finalize Your Podcast

After entering the metadata, click the Validate button to check for errors. Then click Finalize – this will take you to the page where you publish your podcast feed.

On that page, you'll see the link to your podcast's RSS feed (you will need this link later). We will also create a simple website for your podcast (click on View Podcast Website).

Step 7: Submit Your Feed to Apple

Now comes the critical step of listing your podcast for podcast apps and platforms. Head to Apple Podcasts to submit your feed URL. To place your podcast there, you must use an Apple ID to access the Podcasters dashboard at podcasters.apple.com.

Apple Podcasts is still the leading global podcast directory. All the podcasts are listed there.

Review Time

For your podcast to be approved and appear in the directories it may take up to a couple of days, more likely under 24 hours. But once it's live, listeners can easily find and subscribe to your show. All subsequent updates you make will be instant.

There are other directories you can submit your podcast to, like Spotify and Amazon. These can be used to broaden distribution.

Step 8: Promote Your Podcast

With your podcast published and available everywhere, it's time to spread the word! Use social media, your website, email lists, and other marketing channels to promote your show and attract listeners.

The beauty and freedom of podcasting media is that you do not have to rely on directories. They are valuable and helpful, but you can simply share the address of your podcast’s website for people to listen.

Is that all?

And that's it – follow these steps, and your podcast will be published and ready for the world to enjoy. Indeecast streamlines the distribution process so you can focus on creating great content. Good luck with your show! Don't wait – get it done.
